Open ChatGPT

ChatGPT opens in a new tab so you can keep these instructions beside you.

Set up your connection

Start in ChatGPT on the web. You’ll need a ProMed account and access to custom MCP connections in ChatGPT. Availability depends on your ChatGPT plan and workspace permissions.

  1. Add a custom MCP server

In ChatGPT, open Plugins, select the plus button, then choose Add custom MCP server.

  2. Enter your connection details

Name it ProMed Personal. Under Connection, paste the MCP URL from this page into Server URL. If asked for a transport, choose Streamable HTTP.

  3. Choose OAuth

Select OAuth for authentication. If a registration method is shown, choose CIMD and leave the client ID and client secret fields blank. You don’t need an API key.

  4. Create and connect

Review ChatGPT’s warning, select I understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin. When ChatGPT requests authorization, sign in to ProMed, review the requested permissions and approve the connection. Review the discovered tools and install the plugin before starting a new chat.

  5. Start a conversation

Open a new chat, type @ and select ProMed Personal. Ask a question about your ProMed information.

Can’t find Add custom MCP server? Check your account’s access or ask your workspace administrator. See OpenAI’s current setup and availability guide for details.
